Chris Leidy finds his inspiration in the depths of global oceans. Under the water and on its surface, his images capture the complexity of light and motion in challenging environments.  Although representational by definition, Leidy’s photography tends towards abstraction, conveying the mystery and wonder of underwater worlds.  To create his work, Leidy travels widely, staying for extended periods of time in places as remote as Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Palau and most recently the Arctic.  Leidy’s images present a singularly contemporary approach to underwater photography.

Christopher P. Leidy is the great, great grandson of Joseph Pulitzer, the Hungarian born American newspaper publisher who established in 1917 the Pulitzer Prize. He is the grandson of renowned designer Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau.  Leidy has steadily established his own legacy as an underwater artist producing images of rare beauty attracting the attention of serious art collectors, ocean enthusiasts, and environmentalists.  His work has appeared in Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler and Forbes.
